Hepatitis is an inflammation of the
liver that can be contracted through
unprotected sex, using contaminated needles, or other
causes. There are several types of hepatitis – each caused by a
different hepatitis virus. If left untreated, hepatitis can lead
to fatigue or more serious issues like liver failure. What’s
most disturbing is how hepatitis can remain
dormant in your body for years and cause no outward physical
symptoms.
Hepatitis B is inflammation (irritation and swelling) of the
liver due to the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
The hepatitis B virus can be passed to an infant during
childbirth if the mother is infected. The risk of becoming
chronically infected depends on your age at the time of
infection.
Most newborns and about 50% of children infected with hepatitis
B develop chronic hepatitis. Only a few adults infected with HBV
develop the chronic condition. Most of the damage from the
hepatitis B virus is due to the body's response to the
infection. |
| It may be impossible to detect
hepatitis with just a physical examination because you may not
have any noticeable symptoms. That’s why it’s important to be
tested. |
|
It takes about 1-6 months from the time of infection until
symptoms of acute hepatitis appear.
|
- Hepatitis A can be caused by
consuming contaminated water or food.
- Hepatitis B can be contracted
through sharing contaminated needles, having unprotected
sex, or being exposed to infected blood from another person.
- Hepatitis C can be spread by blood
from contaminated needles during drug use or tattooing as
well as by having unprotected sex.

liver that affects over a million Americans. Found in blood and
certain body fluids, the hepatitis B virus can be spread in a
number of ways. This test is used to diagnose and follow the

vaccine against hepatitis B has produced the desired level of
immunity. $49.00 |

and damage the liver. $49.00 |
